Stealing from the hotel- a bad idea

posted by admin in Uncategorized

It is surprising how many guests continue to steal stuff from hotels simply because they feel that they can get away with it. The truth is that stealing stuff from hotels is never a smart move. There was a time when you could provide false information to the desk and get away with the stuff that you have taken. On the other hand, it will be virtually impossible for you to hide your identity if you have paid for the accommodation using your credit card.

Insure and Looe

posted by admin in Uncategorized

Visitors to Looe have a tendency to think of the town as a quaint throwback to what England used to be like. A quick photo tour of both East and West Looe shows that there is far more going on then just tea and scones. As the town is situated at the mouth of the river, it has a lot to do for the more adventurous tourist. Most recently a mixture of visitors and residents took part in the Hannafore to Looe Island crossing.

The crossing begins at Hannafore on the mainland and takes around thirty minutes depending on your walking speed. Dawdlers beware though! The tide has a tendency to sneak up on you at the last moment so stopping to admire the views is not recommended. Visitors are advised to wear waterproof footwear and either shorts or trousers that won’t retain moisture. The seaweed littering the way can be tricky to navigate so it is advised that no one attempts this crossing alone.

The walk to the Island can be slippery and there have been accidents in the past due to carelessness and a lack of knowledge. Most of these have involved visitors from abroad. There are plenty of guides available in town to assist tourists so pop into the information centre before travelling out to Hannafore. It is this crossing and several other activities that make it advisable for foreign tourists to consider good travel insurance before visiting. There are many policies available to suit any visitor, but be sure to do your research thoroughly before coming.

In addition to the Hannafore crossing, it is also possible to indulge in some sailing and racing. The Looe Sailing Club is located on Buller Street, East Looe. They offer sailing lessons and boat trips for reasonable prices and are very welcoming. Every Thursday evening, visitors can watch the yacht racing that takes place. Non members are not usually allowed to take part in the races themselves, but considering the way some sailors race it is probably a good thing. The club’s objectives are to encourage yacht building and sailing by amateurs as well as to encourage participation in regattas and races. It is well worth a visit but also another reason to ensue your travel insurance is in place when coming from overseas!

Overall Looe has a lot to offer both the casual and adventurous tourist. Wander about the quiet town in East Looe or discover the vibrant (and louder) side of town in West Looe. Hike around the town and enjoy panoramic views of the bay and then head back to one of the many local pubs for a cool refreshing drink. The things a visitor can see and do proves that Looe isn’t just a picture postcard memory. Just remember your insurance!

Hotel And Life – It Is All About Temporary Possession

Working in a hotel helps me understand how temporary life is. We all make a big deal about our lives and pretend as if long term planning is very important. However, what we fail to understand is that long term planning is not even the time span of a second when you view it from the real perspective.

The hotel which I work in is situated close to numerous reputed art clubs. Hence, we often have group bookings from More

The Beautiful Barclay House

posted by admin in Uncategorized

Looe is a truly remarkable place. A recent story was covered by the BBC that shows just how much of a community spirit exists in this historic Cornish town. A lifeboat dedicated to Ollie Naismith from Looe has already saved over 10 lives since it entered service in 2010. It goes to show that even in the most trying and difficult circumstances, good can emerge. This kind of spirit can be found throughout Looe which is why it is such a good place to visit.

There are so many hotels to stay in Looe that it is difficult to pick a favourite which is why this blog sometimes changes opinion from year to year. Like anything, the quality of hotels in Looe can dip and rise, just like any business. This year one of the strongest rises has been that of the Barclay House Hotel. Situated on the edge of Looe overlooking East Looe river valley, the Barclay offers unparalleled views of the town and surrounding countryside. The building itself has been carved out of the hillside and gives the illusion of being in the middle of nowhere – yet it is only a five minute walk to the centre of town, the harbour and much more.

The rooms are well furnished and have all the mod cons that you expect from a hotel including a flat screen tv, en suite bathroom, large windows allowing lots of natural light through and room service. However it is the holiday cottages that are also located on the grounds of the main hotel that are really enticing. Essentially a home away from home, they have large living and dining rooms and fully equipped kitchens available for families or couples all year round. If you’re after secluded self catering accommodation within spitting distance of the town then these cottages are definitely for you.

Broadband internet is also available throughout the complex, though if you’re looking for roaming worldwide coverage then it may be advisable to bring your own dongle as the connection speeds available are quite slow. Nevertheless having broadband access is an expected standard even if it’s not the best.

A state of the art gym and sauna is available for guests who are looking to keep fit as well as enjoy themselves whilst visiting. The restaurant is well designed and boasts excellent food. Considering Barclay has received several awards from both the Good Hotel Guide and the AA in recent years, it is not surprising that everything is almost perfect.

If you do visit Looe this summer and have a bit of extra money to spend, then the Barclay House Hotel is definitely where you should base yourself for a visit.

Saved by the Insurance

It could have been an absolute disaster for a couple of friends of mine this year when their caravan burnt down in an accidental electrical fire.

Apparently a couple of old wires got crossed and the resulting spark hit a bit of flammable material, and before either of them knew what was happening the whole caravan went up in flames.

Luckily they both escaped unhurt, and managed to grab their most precious possessions – family photographs etc – before jumping More

The Peak District is frequented by many vacationers each year as the varied mix of great surroundings and pursuits such as rock climbing, cycling and several other adventure activities make it an ideal spot to proceed. There are many things to do and find out for all the loved ones. If you are an active person you cannot go wrong right here as you won’t ever get bored from the actions being offered.
