Don’t Leave Home Without It!

It’s time to go on holiday and at the top of your list should be a sense of fun and excitement. But amidst all that find a little time to do some pre-holiday planning so that you can enjoy it to the max. Here’s a few things that are on my holiday checklist.
Passport and papers Depending on where you are going there may be some legal or other official paperwork that you need to take with you. Apart from the obvious passport, visas and tickets, you may also need to write down booking numbers of hotels as proof of payment.
Clothes If you’re anything like me you’ll find packing clothes a real chore. But take the time to have a think about what the weather conditions might be like where you are going. Can you get away with just a bathing suit and a couple of t-shirts? Even if you are going somewhere tropical it may be prone to sudden downpours so a light rain jacket may be a good idea. If you are going somewhere more exotic than your home, you many even want to leave a little space in your bag so that you can buy clothes at your destination. Buying “local”clothing can be part of the fun of being away. On a recent trip to Malaysia I discovered the wonderful world of fishermans pants!
Money There are many things that you can forget but don’t forget your travel money. These days you have all sorts of options including travellers cheques, pre pay currency cards, credit and debit cards, and good old fashioned notes and coins. Decide which one is best for you and find out if it’s easy to access money at your destination. If you are going somewhere remote remember to take enough travel money with you or you may have a very hungry holiday.
Last but not least, remember to take a sense of fun and adventure with you, and leave your everyday stresses at home.
Happy Holidays!
